Start Something New
When was the last time you did something completely out of your comfort zone? Can you recall the last time you tried a new restaurant, a new workout class or even a new route to work?
Routine can be a good thing and often times work to keep our lives organized and seemingly in order. They can also cause us to conveniently forget the process we had to go through in order to get to that current place. Most people appreciate the feeling of being in control and often times don’t like to step out of their comfort zone. Fear of the unknown and the hassle of change can be time-consuming, frustrating and discouraging. It is a fact that most people will fear an unknown outcome (with potential of it ending good or bad) versus a known outcome. Just because you have been accustomed to doing something a certain way for a certain amount of time, doesn’t mean it has truly been the right way. Frankly, you could be missing out on your best life, simply because you are choosing not to live it.
Having the courage to start something new is not easy by any means. But the most important thing to remember is to simply START. SOMETHING. NEW. NOW. Don’t sleep in on your next off day of work. Get up and go to that new coffee bar that was just built across the street. When your friends ask you to go out tomorrow for happy hour, pass and start writing in that new journal you bought. Or that new boxing class you walk by every day during your commute home; walk-in tomorrow and sign-up for a trial membership. It isn’t about breaking routine and making your life more challenging, it is about embracing the life you have been given and constantly working to better it.
Change will always be a good thing as it forces you to break the cycle of your habitual nature and enter into a world of infinite possibilities. Stop trying to convince yourself that change isn’t for you. A fresh, new start in the world of “somethings” is waiting for you… What will you start today?
